HHS Band Announcements for 10-17

Fridays Report Times:

Check-offs due this week…
- “Cupid Shuffle” / “Party Rock”
- “Dream On”
Anyone interested in play the solo for “Dream On” should be ready to play it in class Wednesday morning!
Help session Tuesday immediately after school for check-offs and/or concert band auditions.
The 1st quarter ends NEXT WEEK, all check-offs must be completed by then!
Terra Community College Wind and Brass Day
- Saturday, Nov. 5th 10am-4pm
- Registration is $20.00

Fundraising
- While collecting orders for the fruit sale, please advise customers to pay by check! No cash will be accepted at the time orders are due!
- Festival of lights raffle tickets!! Sell or turn them back in by Nov. 16th
- OSU football tickets raffle has just started, take the flier home and help us distribute tickets All sales must be made by Nov. 11th
- Thank you Brittany Graves and all those who helped with the pumpkin fest! It was a fun day and great PR for the band!

Fall 2011 Car Wash

The Huron Band Parents association will be hosting a car wash on Saturday, August 27th from 10am until 2pm in the Rye Beach Deli / Knuckleheads parking lot. All proceeds will benefit the Huron Band program.

2011 Band Camp Reminders

Fall camp for the Huron marching band starts on Monday, August 1st at 10am in the HHS band room!

The full schedule for the week is available at 2011 Camp Schedule (PDF)

Note: lunch and dinner IS NOT provided. Students should plan on packing meals or arrange rides to lunch and dinner.

Also note that Woodard will be taking photos on Wednesday, therefore the band is to report to the band room at 8:30am to change into uniforms in time for pictures to start at 9:00am.

Finally, as the schedule indicates, there will be no evening rehearsal (6-8pm) on Thursday, August 4th.

2011 Marching Band Underway

The 2011 Huron marching band season has kicked off with our week of practices for all incoming freshman. New members have joined the ranks and are working hard to learn all of the marching fundamentals for the year ahead.

REMINDER: There is a meeting for parents of ALL marching band members on Wednesday July 6th from 7:00-8:00pm in the HHS band room. We will be discussing the upcoming marching band season as well as the 2012 concert band trip to Chicago. Any parents who are unable to attend the meeting should contact Mr. Ladd as soon as possible.

High school band members and parents: RSVP cards for the band banquet should be returned in the mail by Monday, May 9th. The banquet is coming up soon on Monday, May 16th at Sawmill Creek resort. Come enjoy a delicious meal and a celebration for an outstanding year!

Music for the 2011 marching band season is being selected right now! Links to public recordings of the show music will be added to the marching band page as pieces are chosen. Check back regularly to hear the music for the 2011 season! All show music will be handed out by the end of the 2010-2011 school year.

Squad Leader Training (SLs Only): June 28th 9am-12:00pm
Fresh. Practices (Fresh., SLs, Perc., Tigerettes Only): June 29th through July 1st 9am-12:30pm
Riverfest Practices (Full Band): July 6th through 8th 9am-12:30pm
Riverfest Parade Performance (Full Band): July 9th 10am
Band Camp (Full Band): August 1st through 5th: All Day
First Football Game Performance (Full Band): August 26th

Concert Band to Perform at State Contest

The high school concert band will be performing at the 2011 OMEA State Large Group Contest on Friday, May 6th. The band will play a concert of three contest selections at 9:45pm in the gymnasium at Westlake High School, followed immediately by sight reading. All high school band students are required to participate in this important performance. Click here for a full itinerary for the event, including loading times and return times.

ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME SUPPORT THE BAND. Our performance is open to the public. Audio/Video recordings of our performance are prohibited.
