2012 Spring Arts Festival Performance

The high school concert band will be performing at the spring arts festival on Thursday, May 17th. The schedule for the evening is…

6:00pm Band members report to the HHS band room
6:30pm Concert begins with the HHS choirs (band students will sit in the gym and listen to the choirs)
7:00pm (approx) Choir concludes their performance and band begins
7:30pm Concert ends / students are dismissed after all equipment is moved back to the band room.

We are looking forward to this performance and hope to see a great crowd!

2012 Band Banquet RSVP

This is just a reminder to all band parents that plan on attending our annual band banquet on Monday, May 21st at Sawmill Creek Resort, that your reservations and money needs to be turned in by May 12th. The invitations were mailed out to all band parents/students over spring break. Please contact Robin Morey if for some reason you did not get an invitation and she will be happy to get an invitation to you. There is no charge for our band students to attend, but parents, siblings, etc. is $20/person to attend.

Please make your check out to the HURON BAND PARENTS, and mail to: Robin Morey, 105 Pittsburgh Ave., Huron as soon as possible.

2012 State Contest Results

After a fine performance on the afternoon of Friday, May 4th, the Huron Concert band received a rating of “excellent” in class “B” from the judges at OMEA state contest. This is the 2nd highest rating possible and all members of the band should be proud of this achievement. The Huron Concert band competed for the first time in class “B” this year which brings about harder required music and a more advanced piece for sight reading.

Congratulations on a memorable performance!

2012 State Contest Itinerary

The Huron concert band has been scheduled to perform on Friday, May 4th, at Findlay High School for the OMEA NW Region State Contest.

Our anticipated itinerary is…

1:00 Students dismissed from class to change into uniforms
1:30 Load Busses / Depart for Findlay
3:20 Arrive at Findlay High School
3:55 Warm-Up
4:30 PERFORM!!
5:05 Sight Read
5:15 Food at snack bar / Receive Rating
6:00 Load Busses / Depart for Home
7:50 Arrive at HHS / Dismiss

Remember: Friends and relatives are encouraged to come hear our band perform at 4:30pm! Get out of work early and come support YOUR band!

2012 Chicago Trip Medication

Any student who is planning on bringing medication on the concert band’s trip to Chicago will need to have a medication form filled out and turned in prior to departure. The forms were handed out to students during our morning rehearsal but extra copies are available by Clicking Here! (PDF)

Chicago Trip Meeting

There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, April 4th at 7:00pm for both parents and students who are traveling with the band to Chicago over spring break. We will go over the itinerary, rules, what to bring, what not to bring, etc. Please contact Mr. Ladd immediately if you are unable to attend.

April 4th, 7:00pm Band Parents General Meeting and Mandatory Chicago Trip Meeting
May 17th, 6:00pm Spring Arts Festival Concert Band Performance
May 21st, 6:00pm HHS Band Banquet
May 27th, 4:00pm HHS Graduation Concert Band Performance

2012 District Contest Results

Congratulations to the musicians of the the Huron High School concert band on receiving straight superior ratings at the OMEA District 2 large group adjudicated event. These students worked extremely hard and earned every bit of success that they enjoyed.

Having received a superior rating at district contest, the band now qualifies to perform at state contest which will most likely take place at Findlay High School on May 4th or 5th. Stand by for future state updates.
